LAW & ESTHER: TNT
In the city of Shushan’s Justice System, the people are represented by three separate yet equally important groups: the police who investigate crime; the district attorney who prosecute the offenders; and the Jews – Okay, maybe it’s just two groups, but frankly most of the lawyers are Jews. They don’t tell that to a lot of people because, you know a lot of people don’t like the Jews. Especially this one guy who… well, wait you’ll see.
These are their stories , well, at least this is one story…
one that you’ve already heard before over and over.
A King who's the Mayor. A Queen who's his District Attorney. Will the real crime be solved? Come see the story of Esther saving the Jews through the lens of the gritty streets of Shushan.
Dun Dun!
Featuring parodies of your favorite songs by The Police and more!

Join us on March 2 at 7:00pm for a joyful,
traditional reading of the Megillah—
Purim the way it’s meant to be experienced: together.
The story will be read by a lively cadre of congregants, with festive interludes and surprises from our clergy and members of our community along the way.
Come in costume or come as you are. Bring groggers or just your voice.
Whether you’re a Purim regular or it’s been a while, this is a night for laughter, noise, connection, and showing up for one another.
Mostly, we just want to see you.

Creative Liturgy Workshop with Rabbi James Feder
The prayers we recite by rote each week were not handed down fully formed from heaven—they were written by real people, reaching for words to express their hopes and fears, their loves and losses.
Over time, those personal prayers became the shared liturgy of the Jewish people. But sometimes, the ancient words of others don't quite resonate, which is why the process of prayer writing must be ongoing.
Join Rabbi Feder once a month at 10:00am
to explore new liturgy being written for our current moment
and take a hand at writing some yourself.

How can Jewish mindfulness help us extract and expand the wisdom of the latter stages of our lives? Based on Wise Aging, the now-classic book by Rabbi Rachel Cowan and Linda Thal, this six-week program will immerse participants in a community of ongoing mindfulness practice, reflection, and connection. Together, we’ll explore how meditation and mindfulness can help us meet physical and emotional challenges, learn to grow in acceptance of ourselves and others, deepen our friendships and familial relationships, live with greater joy, gratitude, and resilience, and shape a legacy for the future.

Join The Chesed Committee!
“Chesed” means “doing the right thing,”
and there are many ways you can do the right thing
in Temple Ner Tamid’s caring community.
The Chesed Committee responds to the practical and emotional needs of congregants by:
- providing drivers to medical appointments
- delivering shiva platters (volunteers are needed)
- offering friendly visitors, amongst other things
You can participate in these Chesed activities occasionally,
or on a regular basis, according to your own schedule.
If you are interested in any or all of these activities
or have ideas for new ways the Chesed Committee can help,
let us add your email to our growing list of Temple Ner Tamid members
who want to lend a helping hand.

Our beloved congregant, Adam Cohen, is desperately in need of a kidney.
Learn more to see if you might be a match!
We know the idea of donating a kidney can feel daunting.
If you want more information about the process,
visit the website www.renewal.org/aboutkidneydonation .
We have members of our congregation who have donated
and are experts that can also tell you about the process.
In the coming weeks, we will be back in touch
with more information about how to help Adam and his family.
If you know anyone who might want to see this information, feel free to forward it along.

Our next volunteer date is: February 8th
We’re looking for volunteers to request donations at the entrance or receive donated items at the exit.
The shifts are 11:30-1:30 and 1:30-3:30.

Karen Frank, our Congregational Nurse,
offers two kinds of informal discussion groups a month, on Zoom,
one for Caregiving Family Members, and one for Grandparents.
The Caregiving Group is for adults with aging or ill parents or spouses.
We discuss questions about “how to keep them safe”, “when to get help”,
“where should they live”, “how do I deal with their confusion”.
We meet the first Thursday of the month, at 7:30pm.
The Grandparents group meets to discuss candidly
the real issues of relationships with grandchildren and their parents.
In a Facebook environment, an idealized picture
of these relationships often make us feel inadequate.
We discuss our real experiences in our safe and comfortable small group setting.
We meet the third Tuesday of each month at 5:00pm.
Please feel free to reach out individually at nursekarenfrank@gmail.com as well.

Tai Chi @ TNT...Thursday evenings 6PM-7PM

Tai Chi is an ancient art that encompasses movement, exercise, meditation, and a delightful way to enhance health. Originating over 2000 years ago, it is often attributed to Lao Tzu, who is also credited with the book Tao Te Ching. Tai Chi serves as a form of movement meditation, skillfully designed to enhance balance and mobility. With over 20 years of dedicated learning and practice,
Ray Wolfson and Irene Sherman are passionate Tai Chi practitioners.
According to them, 'Our growth within this art
continues through both teaching and personal practice.
